Bengaluru, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) continued its searches at the residences and properties of Karnataka Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satish Jarkiholi across the state for the second day in a row on Thursday.
The development has come as an embarrassment to the Congress government led by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, particularly as the government is completing 100 days in power on Thursday and has organised celebrations to mark the occasion.
The searches are underway at 18 locations in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Gokak and Goa over suspected foreign investments and transactions.
According to ED officials, the searches continued until 2 a.m. and resumed at 6 a.m. on Thursday. Jarkiholi was questioned by ED officials at his government-allotted residence on Crescent Road in Bengaluru, where the officials sought clarifications from him.
The searches are also continuing at his private residence in Dollar’s Colony in Bengaluru. ED officials are also conducting searches at properties and residences linked to Jarkiholi, his associates and close relatives.
The searches are expected to continue until the end of the day. ED officials remained at Jarkiholi’s government residence after the searches continued through the night.
In Belagavi, searches continued at four locations, including Jarkiholi’s residence, the residence of his brother-in-law, Excise Commissioner Y. Manjunath, and premises linked to his associates.
ED officials have remained inside the premises since Wednesday and continued the searches in the presence of Manjunath. Officials also questioned Manjunath’s wife regarding alleged foreign investments.
In Gokak, searches at Jarkiholi’s residence were continuing in the presence of his daughter, Congress MP Priyanka Jarkiholi, and other family members. CRPF personnel have been deployed to provide security during the searches. Searches were also continuing at the residence of Jarkiholi’s associate, Dr Girish Sonalkar, in Gokak.
Meanwhile, Jarkiholi was seen moving around inside his government residence in Bengaluru through the night. He also waved to supporters who gathered outside his residence in protest against the ED searches.
The ED searches are part of an ongoing probe into suspected financial transactions and foreign investments, with officials examining properties and transactions linked to Jarkiholi and people associated with him.
